Bat Out of Hell - The Musical has been described as a "romantic adventure about rebellious youth and passionate love against the backdrop of a post-cataclysmic city. Following Strat, who has fallen in love with the daughter of the despotic Falco, this new musical is a high-octane rock‘n’roll adventure that tears through over 20 of Steinman's songs."
The original production starred Andrew Polec as Strat and Christina Bennington as Raven. The cast went on to take the production to Toronto, and according to the Daily Mail, could return for the London return.
An original musical by Jim Steinman based on the Meat Loaf album Bat Out of Hell will enjoy its second West End run in 2018.' Bat Out of Hell' is a best selling album released in 1977, with over 50 million copies sold. Steinman and Meat Loaf returned to the album 15 years later and created 'Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell' with the song "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)", which still now continues to be one of the best rock ballads of all time. The trilogy was completed in 2006 with 'Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose'.
Jim Steinman collaborated with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber on the musical Whistle Down the Wind in 1996, for which he provided the lyrics. After opening in Washington D.C, it successfully transferred into Aldwych Theatre in 1998. He also wrote the lyrics and produced "No Matter What" for Boyzone. Additionally, he composed the music for the hit European musical Dance of the Vampires (Tanz der Vampire), which transferred from Vienna into Broadway in 2002 starring Michael Crawford.
